January 15th, 2009

Evey night we have the same bedtime ritual with the kids. They get dressed for bed, brush their teeth, and pick out a book. We then get some milk, read the book, and they get to watch a few minutes of one of their favorite shows to wind down for the night. After about 10 minutes of that, Nick always takes them to bed and prays with them before laying them down for the night. Well, tonight, Aiden decided that he wanted me to pray with him instead. I felt a little torn about the whole ordeal. This is "daddy's" time. I really love how involved Nick is with the kids, and I think it is special the little rituals he has with them. But, on the other hand, I want to pray with them too. So, I took on the task of praying for tonight. When I went into Aiden's room he told me that he wanted to pray. He normally doesnt pray that often, so I was very anxious to hear what he had to pray about tonight. The words he spoke just melted my heart. I know that God must be really touched to hear the words that come straight from a child's mouth, to hear what they desire. Here are some bits and pieces of Aiden's prayer tonight that I want to be sure to remember:

Dear God,

Sorry that I disobey, its just so hard to obey sometimes.

Thank you for all of the food that you give to us.

God, please help me to not get booboos, it hurts so much when I fall and I dont like it when I get booboos.

(This tiny scratch on his finger must hurt terribly, because he has told us at least a million times how much it hurts and for us not to wipe it or touch it!)

God, please make MawMaw and Grandma Berta's dinosaur booboos go away too, they dont like to get booboos either.

Help me sleep good tonight and to not have bad dreams.

Amen
